Abstract:
ob<x>jective To investigate the changes of ocular surface and meibomian gland related parameters after combined with 0.01% hypochlorous acid to clean the palpebral marginal in the treatment of meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD). Methods A total of 90 patients with 90 eyes of who were diagnosed with MGD in our hospital from August 2021 to October 2021 were prospectively enrolled. They were randomly divided into 2 groups and underwent the Ocular surface disease Index (OSDI), non-invasive tear meniscus height (NITMH), non-invasive first tear film break-up time (NIBUTf), non-invasive average tear film break-up time (NIBUTav), lipid la<x>yer analysis, meibomian gland loss score(total upper and lower eyelid score), the degree of eyelid margin hyperemia score and meibomian gland secretion score. The control group was treated with hot compresses, meibomian gland massage and 0.3% sodium hyaluronate eye drops for treatment of 45 cases (45 eyes). The study group was treated with 0.01% hypochlorous acid on the basis of the control group to clean the palpebral marginal of 45 cases (45 eyes). The changes of ocular surface and meibomian gland related parameters between the two groups and within the group were observed before treatment and 1 week, 2 weeks, 1 month and 3 months after treatment. Results Compared with the control group, NITMH, lipid la<x>yer analysis, the degree of eyelid margin hyperemia , NIBUTf at 1 and 3 months after treatment, NIBUTav at 2 weeks, 1 month and 3 months after treatment, meibomian gland secretion at the same time point after treatment had statistical significance (P < 0.05). But there was no significant difference in OSDI and meibomian gland loss score at the same time point after treatment (P > 0.05). Compared with before treatment, there were statistically significant differences in the ocular surface and meibomian gland related parameters at each time point after treatment in the study group (P < 0.05). In the control group, OSDI, NITMH, NIBUTf, meibomian gland loss score, meibomian gland secretion at each time point after treatment, NIBUTav and lipid la<x>yer analysis at 2 weeks, 1 month and 3 months after treatment, and the degree of eyelid margin hyperemia at 1 week and 1 month after treatment had statistical significance (P < 0.05). Conclusion Conventional treatment combined with 0.01% hypochlorous acid cleaning palpebral marginal is effective in the treatment of MGD, which provides a new idea for the treatment of MGD.
