Abstract:
Objective: To determine the genotype of Treponema pallidum infection in a patient with neurosyphilis and special syphilis rash. Methods: T. pallidum genomic DNA was extracted from the patients’ peripheral blood. PCR was used to amplify the treponema pallidum specific gene tp47. arp and tpr genes were amplified by PCR. The number of repeat fragments contained in the arp gene and RFLP genotype of the tpr gene were combined to determine which type of treponema palldum genotype The patient infected with. Results: 1. The tp47 gene fragment was specifically amplified by PCR. 2. Based on double genotyping method, The genotypic identification of the treponema pallidum demonstrated 14d. Conclusion: The genotype of Treponema pallidum in our patient was proved as 14d, which was associated with the susceptibility of neurosyphilis. This type has a significant correlation with the susceptibility of neurosyphilis. The patient’s special clinical manifestations may be related to the genotype.
