Abstract:
Objective To review the experience of treatment for mitral insufficiency caused by posterior valve prolapse in 25 patients. Methods P osterior mitral valve prolapse or partial chordae tendinosus rupture in 25 patients with mitral insufficiency were approveded by echocardiography p reoperative. After the posterior mitral valve prolapse was reconstructed, the mitral annulus was fixed by So rin soft ring. The effect was examined by water injection test and transesophageal echocardiography (TEE). Mitral valve closure and mitral valvuloplasty were observed by echocardiography before discharge. Mitral valve closure and diastolic diameter of left atrium and left ventricle were reviewed after 3 months follow-up. Results There were no deaths in the whole group, followed up for 3-36 months and no reoperation; 19 cases of severe mitral insufficiency and 6 cases of moderate mitral insufficiency before operation; 21 cases of minimal mitral regurgitation or no mitral regurgitation and 4 cases of minor regurgitation after operation tested by transesophageal echocardiography (TEE); left atrial (LA) and left ventricular end-diastolic diameter (LVEDD) were significantly improved three months after operation. Conclusions Wedge or rectangular resection of posterior mitral leaflet and combined with Sorin soft ring for mitral insufficiency have good short-term and medium-term effects, but the long-term effects still need to be further observed
