Abstract:
Objective To investigate the clinical characteristics of Kimura’s disease(KD)and to improve the recognition of hep. Methods We report a case of KD misdiagnosed as lymphoma which was confirmed by pathological diagnosis in our hospital. We have also analysed the relevant national and international literature. Results The patient was a 74 years old male with simple and painless subcutaneous mass in the left cheek and an slightly increase in eosinophil count, which could be reduced after hormone therapy. Facial magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) examination showed that mixed signal shadows in left parotid regionwas considered for space-occupying lesions. The primary diagnosis was lymphoma, and the postoperative pathological diagnosis was KD. Conclusion Patients presenting with painless subcutaneous mass of head and neck and increased eosinophil count and elevated serum IgE should consider the possibility of this disease and further improve the color doppler ultrasound, CT and MRI examinations for clarification. Biopsy of mass should be performed for diagnosis if necessary.Key words Kimura’s disease; Lymphoma; Imaging; Eosinophils; IgE
