Analysis of serum vitamin A, D and E levels in healthy children

Abstract: ob<x>jective To investigate the level of serum soluble vitamin A , D, E in healthy children in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University. Methods The data of physical examination of healthy children in our hospital were collected and grouped. The serum vitamin A (VA) and vitamin E (VE) levels of each child were determined by reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography fluorescence detection. The serum of each child was 25- hydroxy vitamin D (25-OH-VD) levels were determined by liquid phase tandem mass spectrometry, and the levels of vitamins A, D, and E in each age group were analyzed. Results A total of 2151 healthy children were examined. The average serum VA level was (0.32 ± 0.08) mg / L, and the lowest VA level was ≤1 year old (0.29 ± 0.075) mg / L. The detection rate of low-level VA for all children was 37.09. % (798/2151), the detection rate was highest in the ≤1 year old group (54.19%); the average serum 25-OH-VD level (34.24 ± 9.31) ng / mL, and the lowest 25-OH-VD level in the 6 year old group (25.58 ± 8.67) ng / mL; the detection rate of low-level 25-OH-VD in all subjects was 33.56% (722/2151), and the detection rate was highest in the 6-year-old group (77.89%); the average serum VE level was ( 10.69 ± 3.57) mg / L, the lowest in the 6-year-old group (8.59 ± 1.96) mg / L; the detection rate of low-level VE in all subjects was 5.57% (120/2151), and the highest in the 6-year-old group (20%) . Conclusions Vitamin A levels are the lowest in the ≤1 year old group. Vitamin D and E levels are related to age. The older the age, the lower the vitamin D and E levels.
