Abstract:
Objective To evaluate the therapeutic effect of percutaneous internal fixation with plate through the posterior tibial approachto treatdistal tibiofibula fracture.
Methods Atotal of 97 patients with distal tibiofibula fractures who were admitted to Shantou Central Hospital from April 2015 to October 2017 were enrolled, where 51 patients were set as an observation group and underwent percutaneous internal fixation with plate through the posterior tibial approach and 46 patients were set as a control group who received traditional open reduction and internal fixation. Then, both groups were compared for operation condition, rate of fracture healing and post-operative complications.
Results The observation group presented remarkable decreases in the operation time,intra-operative blood loss,post-operative drainage volume, hospitalization stay and fracture healing time compared with the control group(
P<0.05).The rate of fracture healing in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group(
P<0.05).The incidence of post-operative complications was significantly lower in the observation group than in the control group(
P<0.05).
Conclusions The percutaneous internal fixation with plate through the posterior tibial approach to treat distal tibiofibula fracture has little incision and rapid recovery after operation, which can significantly improve the ankle function and reduce the incidence of postoperative complications. It is worthy of clinical application.
