Abstract:
Objective To investigate the expression of protein tyrosine phosphatase receptor J (PTPRJ) in gastric cancer tissue and clinical significance.
Methods We retrospectively analyzed the paraffin specimens of cancer tissues and adjacent tissues from 50 patients who underwent gastric cancer surgery in Suqian Zhongwu Hospital from January 2015 to December 2016. The expression of PTPRJ in postoperative gastric cancer tissues and adjacent tissues was determined by immunohistochemical method.
Results The positive expression rate of PRPTJ was 44% (22/50) in gastric cancer tissues and 68% (34/50) in gastric cancer adjacent tissues. The positive expression rate of PRPTJ was higher in gastric cancer adjacent tissues than that in gastric cancer tissues (
P<0.05). The expression of PTPRJ was related to tumor cell differentiation, tumor invasion, lymph node metastasis and TNM staging (
P<0.05), with no relation to age, sex and location (
P>0.05). The overall survival (OS) was 46 months for patients with positive expression of PTPRJ in cancer tissue, and was 38 months for those with negative expression, which was statistically different (
P=0.033).
Conclusions PTPRJ has a higher positive expression rate in paracancerous tissues than in cancer tissues, and patients with PRPRJ positive expression in cancer tissues shows survival benefits. PTPRJ may become a biological marker for diagnosis and prognosis of gastric cancer.
