Abstract:
Objective To explore the effects of transcranial alternating current stimulation on theory of mind in healthy subjects.
Methods High precise transcranial alternating current stimulation instrument was used to intervene the right temporoparietal junction area of healthy college students. Their theoretical abilities were measured by simple and complex theory of mind tests.
Results There was no significant difference in the simple and complex theory of mind tests in the real and shamed stimulation group before transcranial AC stimulation, and no significant difference was found in three physical control dimensions. According to simple or complex psychological theory tests, the reaction remarkably weakened in both groups after intervention, while more decreases were found in the real stimulation group. After intervention, the real stimulation group showed remarkable reduced reaction compared with the shamed stimulation group.
Conclusions Transcranial alternating current stimulation can improve the theory of mind in healthy person.
