Application of 3D scanning technology in autologous fat transplantation to correct breast asymmetry

Abstract: Objective To explore the effect of 3D scanning technology on autologous fat transplantation to correct breast asymmetry. Methods A total of 40 patients with breast asymmetry who were admitted to the Affiliated Hospital of Xuzhou Medical University from January to September 2020 were enrolled. According to the random number table method, they were divided into two groups (n=20): an experiment group and a control group. The control group underwent routine physical examination and the volume of filling fat was determined based on the experience of the operator. For the experimental group, the volume of filling fat was determined by measurement of breast volume using 3D scanning. The volume of fat filling was 100—300 ml each time for both groups, and the interval of reoperation was half a year. Then, all patients were followed-up, and their postoperative complications and reoperation were examined. Six months after the last operation, 3D scanning was performed for all patients. The difference of bilateral breast volume was analyzed and satisfaction survey was conducted. Results Six months after the last operation, the experiment group presented the difference of bilateral breast volume difference, which was remarkably less than that in the control group (P<0.05). The scores of satisfaction towards surgeons and repaired breasts in the experimental group were higher than that in the control group (P<0.05). The rate of reoperation in the experimental group was lower than that in the control group (P<0.05). The control group reported one case of postoperative complication, while no case was reported in the experiment group, which were not statistically different (P>0.05). Conclusions The use of 3D scanning technology in autologous fat transplantation to correct breast asymmetry can well improve the shape of postoperative breast, reduce the number of operations, and achieve high patient satisfaction, which is worthy of clinical promotion.
