Abstract:
ObjectiveTo investigate the role of MIP-1α and MIP-1β in the development and progression of papillary thyroid carcinoma. MethodsA total of 120 patients with thyroid diseases who were admitted into our hospital from January 2014 to October 2016 were enrolled. They were divided into two groups: an experimental group (60 patients with thyroid papillary carcinoma) and a control group (60 patients with benign thyroid disease) were collected. Then, the levels of serum MIP1α and MIP-1β were measured by ELISA. Paraffin-embedded sections were prepared to analyze their expression characteristics in both groups. ResultsThe expression of MIP-1α and MIP-1β protein were found in the cytoplasm of thyroid epithelial cells. The positive rates of MIP-1α and MIP-1β expression were significantly higher than those in benign thyroid tumor. The experimental group produced remarkable higher amounts of serum MIP-1α and MIP-1β, compared with the control group (P<0.05). ConclusionsMIP-1α and MIP-1β may be involved in the development of papillary thyroid carcinoma and may serve as a new target for the papillary thyroid carcinoma.
