Abstract:
Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of acupuncture plus fluvoxamine in treating depression, for seeking a more effective combined treatment of traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine for this disease. Method The 80 cases of patient were parallelly divided into two groups, 40 cases in each group ,the treatment group receiving acupuncture plus fluvoxamine and the control group receiving fluvoxamine alone ,successively for 6 weeks .Hamilton Depression Scale(HAMD) was obseved before and after the treatment, Asberg rating scale for side effects was observed after the treatment ,for evaluating the therapeutic efficacy. Result The total effective rate was 97.4% in the treatment group versus 85.7% in the control group and the side effects in the treatment group was less than the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion Acupuncture plus fluvoxamine is an effect method and less side effect in treating depression, and it should be a feasible combined treatment of traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine.
