Abstract
Objective To observe the effect of diltiazem on the analgesic effect of ketamine in mice. Methods A total of 64 Kunming mice were randomly divided into 4 groups: group NS, group D (diltiazem), group K (ketamine) and group D+K (diltiazem+ketamine). The paw withdrawal thermal latency (PWTL) at certain points of time were measured 15 min after intraperitoneal injection.through hot-plate tests and the times of body-torsion within 15 min were tested through body torsion tests. Results Compared with group NS, group K and group D+K presented obviously longer PWTL at 15, 25, 35, 45 and 55 min after intraperitoneal injection and less body-torsion times within 15 min after intraperitoneal injection (P<0.05). In contrast with group K, the PWTL at 25, 35 and 55 min of group D+K were significantly prolonged and the body-torsion times within 15 min were decreased remarkably (P<0.05). Conclusions Diltiazem could improve the analgesic effect of ketamine in mice.
