Abstract
Objective To analyze the incidence of tumors in three pairs of major salivary glands in the Department of Stomatology, the Affiliated Hospital of Xuzhou Medical University in the past 5 years, so as to preliminarily understand the incidence trend of tumors in three pairs ofmajor salivary glands in Huaihai Economic Zone. Methods The clinical data of 412 patients with tumors of three pairs of major salivary glands admitted to the Department of Stomatoloy, the Affiliated Hospital of Xuzhou Medical University from 2013 to 2018 were retrospectively analyzed, including gender, age, location of tumors, clinical manifestations and pathological types. Results Among the 412 patients, the age of onset ranged from 1 to 92 years, with an average age of 51.4 years. There were 247 males (59.95%) with an average age of 55.4 years and 165 females (40.05%) with an average age of 45 years. The peak period of tumor incidence was 41-70 years of age, of which benign tumors were predominant in 41-60 years of age and malignant tumors were predominant in 61-70 years of age. Parotid gland was the most common site of tumor (368 cases, 89.32%) and benign tumors accounted for 86.96% (320/368), of which pleomorphic adenomas were the most common form of benign tumors (159 cases). Malignant tumors accounted for 11.65% (48/412), of which mucoepidermoid carcinoma (15 cases) was the most common form of malignant tumors. Conclusions Among the three pairs of major salivary gland tumors in the Huaihai Economic Zone, the peak period of tumorigenesis is 41-70 years of age. Pleomorphic adenoma is a common benign tumour. Warthin's tumor often occurs in parotid gland, and are significantly more common in males than females. Mucous epidermoid carcinoma and adenoid cystic carcinoma are common malignant tumors.
