Abstract
Depression is a globally high-occurring mental illness that seriously endangers the physical and mental health of human beings. Animal models of depression are widely used in the study of its pathogenesis and new therapeutic drugs. This paper reviews the establishment methods and pathophysiological characteristics of common animal models, compares their advantages and disadvantages, and recommends appropriate animal models for different research purposes, hoping to help researchers who study depression.
