Correlation between ALDH2 genotype and CATMOD model in patients with type 2 diabetes

Objective To investigate the expression of ALDH2 genotypes in patients with type 2 diabetes and healthy subjects, and determine the presence of type 2 diabetes susceptibility genotypes. Methods A total of 104 patients with type 2 diabetes were screened out from the healthy physical examination population in Central South University Xiangya School of Medicine Affiliated Haikou Hospital from July 2013 to September 2018. Meanwhile, 62 healthy subjects were selected as controls. Then, their ALDH2 genes were detected and analyzed by CATMOD. Results According to CATMOD model analysis, the expression of Lys504Lys gene seemed to increase within 166 samples for ALDH2 gene polymorphism, without statistical difference. Conclusions There is no clear finding suggesting the presence of susceptibility genotypes of ALDH2 gene in 104 patients with type 2 diabetes diagnosed in this study, and further large-scale and in-depth studies are needed.
