Abstract
Objective To investigate the association of rs10462841 loci polymorphism of ADCY2 gene with the therapeutic effect for patients with bipolar disorder. Methods A total of 99 patients with bipolar disorder were included in this study. The severity and therapeutic effect of the disease were assessed by the Global Assessment Scale (GAS). Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and DNA sequencing analysis were used to detect the genotype of rs10462841 loci of ADCY2 gene. Results Two alleles of C and G, and three genotypes of CC, CG and GG were detected at rs10462841 of ADCY2 gene. There was no significant difference in the distribution of gender, age of first onset and clinical characteristics of first onset among patients with different genotypes (P>0.05). There was no significant difference in the therapeutic effect of patients with different genotypes (P>0.05). There was no significant difference in GAS scores of different genotypes before treatment and at the end of the 4th, 8th and 12th weeks (P>0.05). At the end of the first and the second week, the GAS scores of different genotypes were statistically significant (CC>CG>GG, P<0.05). Conclusions The genetic polymorphisms of ADCY2 gene rs10462841 may have no significant effect on the long-term efficacy of patients with bipolar disorder. It is related to the early efficacy of treatment. Understanding its gene polymorphism can guide the clinical individualized medication of bipolar disorder.
