Abstract
Objective To investigate the efficacy of Bacillus coagulans combined with mesalazine in the treatment of non-specific terminal ileum ulcer. Methods A total of 121 patients with non-specific terminal ileum ulcer were selected. The observation group (n=62) was treated with live Bacillus coagulans tablets combined with mesalazine tablets, while the control group (n=59) was treated with live Bacillus coagulans tablets for one course of treatment for 4 weeks and 3 courses of continuous treatment. The clinical efficacy, endoscopic treatment effect and improvement of total score of clinical symptoms in the two groups were observed. Results The total effective rate of clinical treatment in the observation group (95.2%) was higher than that in the control group (81.4%), and the total effective rate under endoscopy (93.5%) was higher than that in the control group (77.9%), with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). After treatment, the total score of clinical symptoms in both groups decreased compared with that before treatment, and the decrease was more obvious in the observation group, with statistically significant difference (P<0.05). Conclusions The combination of Bacillus coagulans and mesalazine is highly effective in the treatment of non-specific terminal ileum ulcer, and is worthy of clinical application.
