Abstract
Objective To analyze the relationship between prealbumin and platelet before treatment and the prognosis of patients with extensive-stage small cell lung cancer (SCLC), and explore their prognostic value for patients with extensive-stage SCLC. Methods A total of 116 patients with extensive-stage SCLC in the Affiliated Hospital of Xuzhou Medical University from February 2012 to July 2017 were enrolled. Their clinical data, including sex, age, ECOG score, and prealbumin level and platelet count before treatment were collected. The relationship between prealbumin level and platelet count and progression free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) were analyzed by log-rank test and Cox scale risk model. Results Before treatment, prealbumin level in patients was significantly associated with PFS (P=0.013) and OS (P=0.025). Platelet count before treatment was not significantly associated (P=0.093), but significantly associated with OS (P = 0.026). Conclusions Prealbumin and platelet before treatment are the factors associated with the prognosis of patients with extensive-stage SCLC.
