Effects of Tianshu capsules on the memory impairment induced by formaldehyde in mice

Objective To observe the effects of Tianshu capsules on the memory impairment induced by formaldehyde in mice. Methods Mice were randomly divided into five groups: a normal saline group (Group NS), a formaldehyde group (Group FA), a low dose of Tianshu capsule (0.3 g·kg-1) group (Group CLL), a middle dose of Tianshu capsule (0.6 g·kg-1) group (Group CLM), and a high dose of Tianshu capsule (1.2 g·kg-1) group (Group CLH). The latency and number of errors in mice were observed by the step-through test. Results Compared with Group NS, Group FA presented obviously shorter latency (P<0.05) and an increased number of errors (P<0.01). Compared with Group FA, the latency was remarkably extended in Group CLH (P<0.01), while the number of errors was marked decreased for Groups CLL, CLM and CLH (P<0.01). Conclusions Tianshu capsules can improve the memory impairment induced by formaldehyde in mice.
