Effects of Tianshu capsules on the memory impairment induced by formaldehyde in mice

  • Objective To observe the effects of Tianshu capsules on the memory impairment induced by formaldehyde in mice. Methods Mice were randomly divided into five groups: a normal saline group (Group NS), a formaldehyde group (Group FA), a low dose of Tianshu capsule (0.3 g·kg-1) group (Group CLL), a middle dose of Tianshu capsule (0.6 g·kg-1) group (Group CLM), and a high dose of Tianshu capsule (1.2 g·kg-1) group (Group CLH). The latency and number of errors in mice were observed by the step-through test. Results Compared with Group NS, Group FA presented obviously shorter latency (P<0.05) and an increased number of errors (P<0.01). Compared with Group FA, the latency was remarkably extended in Group CLH (P<0.01), while the number of errors was marked decreased for Groups CLL, CLM and CLH (P<0.01). Conclusions Tianshu capsules can improve the memory impairment induced by formaldehyde in mice.
