Effects of dexmedetomidine on acute pulmonary edema caused by excessive adrenaline in mice

    • ObjectiveTo explore the effects of dexmedetomidine (DEX) on acute pulmonary edema induced by excessive adrenaline in mice. MethodsA total of 40 Kunming mice were randomly divided into five groups. Mice were injected with normal saline in Group A; a routine dose of adrenaline and normal saline in Group B; a routine dose of adrenaline and DEX in Group C; an excessive dose of adrenaline and normal saline in Group D and an excessive dose of adrenaline and DEX in Group E. Before and after treatment, the changes of respiration were observed. The mice were sacrificed and the lung was weighed to calculate the lung coefficient and observe the changes of lung morphology and structure. ResultsGroup E showed a remarkable reduced lung coefficient and slightly morphological changes, compared with Group D (P<0.05). ConclusionsDEX can relieve acute pulmonary edema induced by excessive AD in mice.
