    Comparison of the efficacy of pressing the uterus combined with intra-uterine packed with sterilized gauzes and B-Lynch sutures for treatment of postpartum hemorrhage caused by uterine inertia

    • ObjectiveTo compare the efficacy of pressing the uterus combined with intra-uterine packed with sterilized gauzes and B-Lynch sutures for treatment of postpartum hemorrhage caused by uterine inertia. MethodsA total of 58 patients with postpartum hemorrhage who was admitted into our hospital from January 2015 to June 2016 were selected. They were randomly divided into two groups: an observation group (n=26) and a control group (n=32). The observation group underwent pressing the uterus combined with intra-uterine packed with sterilized gauzes, while the control group received B-Lynch suturing. The two groups were compared for treatment efficacy. ResultsCompared with the control group, the observation group showed remarkably reduced volumes of blood loss 2 h after treatment (P<0.05), which required marked longer treatment time (P<0.05), without significant difference in the volume of blood loss 24 h after surgery (P>0.05). The observation group presented significantly higher efficacy than the control group (P<0.05). ConclusionsPressing the uterus combined with intra-uterine packed with sterilized gauzes is an easy and effective approach to treat postpartum hemorrhage.
