Abstract
ObjectiveTo investigate the effects of huperzine A on ketamine-induced memory impairment in mice. MethodsMice were randomly divided into three groups (n=10): a normal saline (NS) group, a 35 mg·kg-1 ketamine (K) group and a 0.2 mg·kg-1 huperzine A+ 35 mg·kg-1 ketamine (HK) group. A mouse model of memory impairment was established through intraperitoneal injection of ketamine. Then, the effects of huperzine A on the latency and number of errors were observed in the step-through test. ResultsCompared with the NS group, the K group and the HK group presented a remarkably higher number of errors and shortened latency (P<0.01). Compared with the K group, the HK group showed a markedly less number of errors and extended latency (P<0.01). ConclusionsHuperzine A can partially improve ketamine- induced memory impairment in mice.
