A qualitative study on the experience and diabetic understanding of pregnant women with gestational diabetes mellitus

Abstract
Objective To investigate the psychological experience and diabetic understanding of pregnant women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM), so as to provide evidence for targeted health management. MethodsPhenomenological research methods were conducted and 10 pregnant women with GDM were semi-structurally interviewed. ResultsThe pregnant women diagnosed with GDM were uncertain about the concept and risk of GDM, while their psychological experience included doubt, carelessness, anxiousness and hope. ConclusionThe psychological experience and diabetic understanding of pregnant women with GDM shows that the current management for GDM is not satisfied. Medical staff should pay more attention to the health needs of pregnant women with GDM and improve the health management of pregnant women with GDM.
