The clinicopathological features and prognostic analysis of 18 patients with hepatoid adenocarcinoma of the stomach

    • ObjectiveTo investigate the clinical, pathological features and prognostic factors of hepatoid adenocarcinoma of the stomach (HAS), so as to improve the diagnosis and treatment of HAS. MethodsA total of 18 HAS patients who were admitted into the First People’s Hospital of Guangyuan and Guangyuan Central Hospital in the past twenty years were enrolled. Their clinical features, risk factors and prognosis were analyzed. ResultsAll patients presented lymphatic metastasis, where five patients showed liver metastasis before surgery. Pathologic staging, radical surgery and adjuvant chemotherapy were the risk factors for HAS patients (P<0.05). In the current study, the 3-year overall survival rate was 9.9%, while the 3-year disease-free survival rate was 7.1%. ConclusionsHAS is a highly malignant tumor, which is often easily misdiagnosed with very poor prognosis. Early diagnosis and early multidisciplinary treatment are essential to treat HAS.
