Effect of rTMS and MECT on cognitive function in patients with depression at different time points

    • Objective To explore the effect of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation(rTMS)and modified electroconvulsive therapy(MECT)for depression patients at different time points generated cognitive functions. Methods Patients with depression were divided into rTMS group (rTMS + drug treatment) and MECT group (MECT + drug treatment) according to a randomized, double-blind principle. Before treatment, 2 weeks, 4 weeks of treatment underwent repeat neuropsychological testing sets (RBANS) assessment. Results Before treatment, the two groups of patients RBANS score group, the difference was not statistically significant (P> 0.05); Treatment 2 weeks, 4 weeks of treatment, The two groups were better than before treatment, the treatment of 4 weeks to improve cognitive function more pronounced. There was no significant difference between the two groups(P> 0.05). Conclusion rTMS and MECT treatment can be effective in improving cognitive function in patients with depression, no significant difference between the two groups, and prolonged treatment, improved significantly
