Abstract
Objective:To investigate the nutritional state of vitamin A and E in obese children, and to analysis the relationship between vitamin A and E and obesity. Methods:Fifty overweight or obese children and Fifty healthy children were divided into overweight group, obese group and control group. The venous blood was collected to detect the content of vitamin A and E. Results: There was statistical difference in serum level of vitamin A and E among three groups (P<0.05). Serum levels of vitamin A in overweight and obesity children were significantly lower than that in the controls (P<0.05). The level of vitamin E in obese group was significantly decreased compared with control group (P<0.05). The insufficiency rate of vitamin E was obviously different and showed the trend of obese group>overweight group> control group decreased. Serum levels of vitamin A and E were inversely associated with BMI (r= -0.395,P=0.000;r= - 0.374,P=0.000). Conclusions: Serum levels of vitamin A and E in overweight and obese children were significantly decreased, which maybe associated with the occurrence of obesity in pre-school children
